Under my device manager properties for the DVD drive under the 'details' tab and 'Hardware Ids' property drop down option it also lists that model. I shall learn as I go.. Not afraid to try anything new so with that info in hand I shall further play with things and see what I can muck up. Where can I acquire the drive? Can it be a mechanical problem? I would appreciate your help. I would suggest Hwinfo64 , It will show you all the details of all your hardware and lots more and its free. Hi, I did download the program you recommended, but even knowing the model of the driver, I cannot seem to find it over the net.
My machine is an Asus G75VW. Is there anyplace where I can acquire it? I have been looking for it inside Asus forums and driver pages. Check this page and tab in Hwinfo64 as you can see it show my exact OD model number and all details of this drive. Miniatura de Adjuntos.
Last edited by Clintlgm; at PM. You can delete them from Device manager and restart they will reinstall automatically. You might find this fix will solve your problem if it is not a hardware problem. I put them in, it spits them out asking me to insert a writable disk. I'm beginning to want to write to that burner with a hammer. Everything says it's working just fine; but it clearly isn't. I'm trying to burn a Linux rescue disk on this Laptop to take over to my Desktop that has all my documents and pictures on it, but suddenly won't boot.
It won't start Windows in Safe Mode with any options at all, and it won't start normally either, though it says it's staring, then goes to a blank screen, forever.
Any suggestions? Thought we weren't able to do much in safe mode, but tried booting to it in my Win7 G75VW unit and was able to read a DVD there hopefully your drive can read disks at least? Not sure if it's a hardware or software issue, but if you have other burning software installed, you might try uninstalling it to use the built-in Win7 burning software.
Otherwise, if it makes sense, consider removing the drive from your non-booting desktop and get a USB adapter to connect to another computer that can read it, or if you have a spare desktop hard drive available, install an OS on it? Good luck!
